Altinkum

Altinkum is a sun-blessed easy going tourist resort situated on the western side of Turkey. The town prides itself on its three spectacular beaches. Main beach, second and third beach. Infact the name Altinkum actually translates to 'Golden Sands'. Main beach is the focal point of the resort and it curves around the crystal clear waters of the Agean Sea, sitting temptingly in front of the many bars, restaurants and shopping outlets. The bay has much to offer including water sports and the hire of sunbeds/umbrellas to keep you entertained during those lazy days on the golden sand. Many of the restaurants will in fact bring you drinks down and be availiable to take your orders throughout the day, making your holiday even more relaxing. The beach is ideal for families with children as the Agean Sea streatches out for about 100 metres at weist height before it starts to get deeper, giving kids plenty of room to enjoy beach life.

Second beach is a more secluded bay, but still has many nice features. It is a more quieter spot, however it still has plenty of surrounding restaurants and bars to keep you smiling.

Third beach is located on the other side of the main beach and some say its the pick of the three. As with the other beaches third beach has its own array of restaurants and bars, some of which will provide transport from your appartment to the beach providing you make a purchase there at some point during your stay.

There are many more small bays and coves up and down the coastline which can be explored by the more adventurous, maybe even finding your own special spot where you can soak up the sun on those hot summer days.

When the sun finally sets on Altinkums golden shores, the town really comes to life with its wide range of entertainment for all ages. The bay glistens from the lights of the nearby restaurants, bars, clubs and shops. At one end of the bay you will find a selection of nightclubs offering a good range of music from traditional turkish beats to the more modern english pop songs. They generally stay open until the sun's coming up again so it really can become a long day. Nearer the centre of the bay you will find the famous Dolphin Square which is more of a family enclosure, with its restaurants and shops. The locals are very friendly and will make you and your family very welcome and relaxed, infact nothing is to much trouble.

Altinkum caters for all tastes when it comes to food and drink, many restaurants offer most dishes from your traditional english fish and chips to chinese, indian and even mouth watering local turkish cuisine. To appreciate the quality of the local food you really need to try a varity of dishes from a varity of restaurants. Prices are very reasonable and the more inland you go the cheaper the dish, an average meal with drinks for 2 will cost no more than say £15.

There are many local attractions around Altinkum including, the temple of Apollo, Empesus and the water park.
